Somers and Carmel are trending upward in the lohud boys lacrosse rankings

Pleasantville gets to spend another week atop the list after going stride for stride with a pair of Long Island powers. Somers and Carmel are creeping up, but there are some challenges on the horizon for both of those programs. Tappan Zee cracked the top 10 after winning 4-3 in the closing minute at Fox Lane.

By the way, we are officially in the home stretch of the regular season.

1. Pleasantville (8-2) — A split with Garden City and Shoreham-Wading River is a pretty good week. Let's see if any upcoming league opponents can get more than four goals on the Panthers. Previously: 1

2. Iona Prep (10-3) — Dylan Reese got back from a wrist injury just in time for highly competitive road games against Ridgefield (Connecticut) and Chaminade. Previously: 2

3. Somers (10-1) — Looking ahead to what could be a big final week of the regular season before the Tuskers deal with Byram Hills and Greeley would be a mistake. Previously: 4

4. Rye (6-3) — Experience in close games certainly isn't lacking here. The Garnets are 3-2 in contests decided by two goals or less. Previously: 3

5. Yorktown (6-4) — There are signs of improvement on the offensive end, so the question now is, will the Huskers finish on a seven game win streak or a five game win streak? Previously: 7

6. John Jay-Cross River (8-3) — Andrew Kiefer and Luca Duva have been dominant all season. They will get more tests against Bronxville and Fox Lane this week. Previously: 6

7. Mamaroneck (6-4) — Carson Winters is breaking out. The Tigers underclassmen, in general, are beginning to show more potential than inexperience. Previously: 5

8. Carmel (7-1) — The Rams went to Haldane and did what good teams do to up-and-comers, they slammed the door early and never let the Blue Devils gain confidence. Previously: 10

9. Greeley (6-4) — Wanna bet the overtime loss to a strong defensive team like Fox Lane got the attention of every player on this roster? Previously: 8

10. Tappan Zee (8-1) — There won't be a lot of bonus points for strength of schedule, but the Dutchmen could be hosting a couple of playoff games. Previously: NR
