A new industrial commercial park to be located on the west edge of Pleasantville called Adkins Development was given the go-ahead by the Pleasantville City Council March 16. The council approved a contract with Vanderpool Construction out of Indianola with the cost of $6.6 million.

The city council vote was a narrow approval, Joe Mrstik, Pleasantville City Manager, tells KNIA/KRLS News, “Yeah, three to two. There was some concern from the council as far as the design and the costs. It was a very big decision, but overall it was approved.”

Mrstik said he is very happy it was approved. He added it was a very big decision for the council members and the city of Pleasantville. He told KNIA/KRLS News, “I think without a doubt they are going to reap the rewards as years come. This really sets us up for future development, both residential and commercial for many years to come.”

Before that Mrstik said they really didn’t have a plan.
