Fred Cannon, Tucson, Arizona, shown with his Armenian cucumbers grown on the Arizona desert. These cucumbers were grown in 2.5 inches of dirt, in half a gas tank from a car. He installed it on wheels so he could move it into the shade when the very hot sun was beaming down. They grow to 22 inches in length and weigh four pounds. They make very good bread and butter pickles, he said.
