East 7th Street blaze in Plainfield leaves firefighter injured

PLAINFIELD – One firefighter was injured Wednesday in a blaze on East 7th Street, authorities said.

City firefighters responded around 10:27 p.m. Wednesday to a soon-to-be-demolished home on East 7th Street where they reported heavy fire conditions that could spread to a multi-family home close by, authorities said.

The home suffered radiant heat damage, but no residents were displaced or injured, authorities said, and one firefighter suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to authorities.

Firefighters from North Plainfield, South Plainfield, Scotch Plains, Springfield, Westfield and Fanwood also responded.
