10 people treated after struggling to swim to Folsom Lake shore from boat
Several people on Monday afternoon needed medical treatment after jumping off a boat and into Folsom Lake, according to lifeguards with the California State Parks. Ten adults were near the boat ramp in Granite Bay when their boat stopped working, the lifeguard said. All 10 thought they could swim to shore, but they all had difficulty making it and needed assistance, some more than others.
3 people dead after car crashes in Auburn, CHP officials say

ATM thief makes hasty withdrawal
Amador County sheriff’s deputies took an early morning trip to Placerville Friday to retrieve a crashed vehicle suspected to have been involved in an ATM theft in . A section of Middletown Road in Placerville was closed between Canal Street and the Placerville DMV as law enforcement officers worked to remove a truck that had been abandoned after a “serious collision with a tree,” according to an Amador County Sheriff’s Office press release. The Placer community gathered outside the rotunda of the Auburn Justice Center on Wednesday for the unveiling of the Fallen Deputy Monument. The eight-foot sculpture, created by local artist Douglas Van Howd, resembles a Sheriff’s deputy from the 1800s and sits within the rotunda to honor the legacy of nine Placer County peace officers who have been killed in the line of duty since 1851, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The officers are Detective Mike Davis, Reserve Deputy Timothy A. Ruggles, Deputy James E. Person rescues lost dog reportedly being followed by coyote in Auburn
AUBURN – A citizen in Auburn rescued a lost dog just in the nick of time. Tuesday night, the Auburn Police Department says someone saw a small dog being followed by a coyote behind Placer High School. The dog was scooped up by the citizen and taken to Auburn police. It spent the night at the police department and, aside from looking a little scruffy and tired, appears to be in good health. Police held onto the dog until Wednesday morning. If the dog's owners didn't come forward by then, police said they would turn the animal over to the Placer County Animal Shelter.The department later announced they had found the dog's family. Memorial statue honors Placer County deputies killed in the line of duty
AUBURN, Calif — The Placer County Sheriff's Office unveiled a Fallen Deputy Memorial Wednesday at the Auburn Justice Center. The memorial statue honors nine deputies who have been killed in the line of duty since 1851. Their names and end-of-watch will be engraved into the memorial. The statue will be placed inside the rotunda of the Auburn Justice Center and will be open to the public.
