    Man struck by train in Manhattan, multiple subway lines delayed: MTA

    MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – A man was struck by a train in Manhattan early Monday morning, causing delays to multiple subway lines, according to the MTA .

    The 31-year-old was struck by an R train near 49th Street around 6:15 a.m., according to the NYPD. Witnesses told police they saw the man walking close to the edge.

    The man’s right leg was hit as the train entered the station, causing two minor abrasions to his thigh, per police. No criminality is expected.

    Sources told PIX11 News the man was drunk when he was hit by the train.

    Southbound N, R and W trains skipped 49th Street. N, Q, R and W trains all ran with delays in both directions, but service has since resumed, according to the MTA .

    If you were looking for service to or from 49th Street, you could’ve take a northbound train. For service between Queens and Manhattan, you could’ve caught a ride on a No. 7, E, F or M train, according to the MTA.

    You could’ve taken Nos. 4, 5, 6, B, D, F and M trains for service within Manhattan. If you were looking for service in Brooklyn, you could’ve taken a B, D or F train.

    They can put barriers a motion sensored gate that can be scanned by keyfob access for MTA and track workers like a steel pulldown gate that activates when train already pulls into station 🚉 and opens I'm sure that will be a high price tag but worth it not sure is that a good idea your thoughts
