One lucky winner is set to claim the largest Keno prize in Massachusetts state history.
A Keno ticket sold in Pittsfield has won the $1 million prize for the first time since the Massachusetts State Lottery introduced the game in 1993.
The winning ticket was sold at Zenner’s Pub and Deli on Tyler Street in Pittsfield, according to lottery officials.
The player selected each of the games’ 12 spots correctly. In each Keno game, players fill in 1 to 12 numbers from a field of numbers ranging from 1 to 80. For each Keno game, a total of 20 winning numbers are randomly selected.
The odds of correctly guessing all 12 winning numbers is 1 in 478,261,833 according to officials.
A $500,000 prize was also sold in Taunton and four $100,000 prizes were sold in Ashland, Ayer, East Falmouth and Newton.
“Congratulations to all of the winners and the retailers who sold these tickets,” said Mark William Bracken, Interim Executive Director of the Massachusetts State Lottery. “While a rare occurrence, it shows that the chances of consecutive numbers being selected are the same as the chances of any other set of numbers.”
