DETROIT (WTAJ) — The Steelers drafted offensive lineman Troy Fautanu from Washington with the no. 20 pick in Thursday night’s opening round of the NFL draft.

It’s the second straight year Pittsburgh took an offensive linemen in the first round after adding Georgia tackle, Broderick Jones, who started 11 games in 2023. Fautanu, announced as a right tackle by Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward, primarily played left tackle in college.

He was graded by the NFL as the fourth best offensive tackle in the NFL Draft. According to Pro Football Focus, Fautanu only gave up three sacks in 1,255 pass-blocking snaps in his collegiate career.

He also grew up a Steelers fan with his favorite player being Hall of Fame safety Troy Polamalu.
