Mini Van Intentionally Set on Fire After vehicle Crash in Pittsburg

The Pittsburg Police Department is investigating a Monday morning vehicle crash which resulted in a man setting a vehicle on fire.

The call came in at approximately 7:40 am at N Parkside and Rose Ann Ave where a person reported a vehicle crash involving a mini van and a white pickup truck. The caller then reported a male got out of a truck and intentionally it set on fire.

By 7:59 am, the fire was put out by Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters. It was also reported that ammunition was popping off inside the vehicle.

According to preliminary information, the white pickup truck was driven by two males. The driver was described as a Hispanic male aged 30-40 with dark complexion and wearing a white sweatshirt. The second male was described as roughly 6-feet tall roughly 180 lbs who had a black ski mask on and a bright blue shirt. He apparently got out of the vehicle and poured gas on the van and lit it on fire.

The vehicle fled south on Andrew Ave.

Pittsburg Police have not yet released any additional information on the incident and its unknown if anyone was inside of the mini van. The victim vehicle was out of the City of Oakley.

UPDATE

By 8:19 am, Pittsburg Police had one suspect in custody and based on description of clothing appears to be the male who set the vehicle on fire. The male was from the City of Brentwood.
