WATCH: Movement Lab hosts ‘Tap Jam’ at Tamp and Grind
ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The Movement Lab hosted the “Tap Jam” on Saturday, April 27, at Tamp and Grind in Alexandria, offering a safe space for dancers to collaborate. The event was also a fundraiser. Money was collected to help send a teen dancer to the Soul 2 Sole Tap Festival this summer.
Pineville man arrested for alleged arson resulting in homicide
On March 30, 2024, Patrol Deputies responded to the 300 block of Williams Lake Road in reference to a structure fire. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies learned from the Holiday Village Fire Department that there was a deceased person in the abandoned residence.

GAEDA board passes ‘no confidence’ resolution on Greg Upton
ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - In another special meeting on Tuesday, April 30, GAEDA board members passed a motion of “no confidence” in board chairman Greg Upton. The three board members who attended the meeting cite alleged disrespect and a lack of leadership. The room was calm as the board members and members of the public voiced concerns about Upton’s handling of GAEDA.
Pineville student artist wins Borders Scholarship, Meraki Award
NATCHITOCHES, La. (NSU) - Skye Marie Dager of Pineville is the winner of the 2024 Meraki Scholarship presented to a student in Northwestern State University’s Department of Fine and Graphic Art. Artist James Borders established the scholarship to honor the memory of his wife, Lisa Chesser Borders, who lost her battle with cancer in 2018 at age 49.

‘Love the Boot’ campaign
ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The South Alexandria Revitalization Committee took part in the statewide, ‘Love the Boot Campaign’. The group met up early on Saturday, April 27, in the Sonia Quarters and cleaned up different areas in the neighborhood. The campaign is a statewide effort that aims to tackle the littering problem that exists in the state.
