Padres prospect Harvey -- with help from Salas -- developing behind the plate in AFL
This was meant to be the first full season for Ty Harvey as a pro, emphasis on the full. The Padres selected the catcher out of Inspiration Academy in Bradenton, Florida, in the fifth round last year and signed him away from a Florida State commitment with a $1.5 million bonus, the second-highest in San Diego’s 2025 Draft class. However, Harvey missed roughly a month for Single-A Lake Elsinore between April and May due to an early hamstring injury, and 10 days after returning to the California League from that, he suffered a broken left hand on a swing by Visalia slugger Enyervert Perez on May 23 that forced him out for nearly another two months.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Snapdragon Stadium, with the game televised on CBS Sports Network. The Bulldogs (4-2, 1-1) are coming off a 38-31 loss to No. 23 Boise State, in which their defense was torched on the ground. Fresno State surrendered 512 total yards, including 274 rushing yards. A team known for its defensive strength struggled to contain the Broncos, leaving plenty of room for improvement heading into Saturday’s matchup. At least the Bulldogs’ offense showed signs of life, although quarterback Jayden Mandal missed on several throws to wide receiver Josiah Freeman. Zeke Avit turned in a strong performance, recording 96 receiving yards and two touchdowns. However, Fresno State’s running game was largely absent, even with Rayshon Luke sidelined by a concussion. Head coach Matt Entz said Luke is day-to-day. Without Luke, Bryson Donelson led the Bulldogs in rushing against Boise State with just 31 yards. Fresno State will need significantly more production on the ground if it hopes to come away with a victory. San Diego State also struggles defensively Speaking of defensive
