Man shot and killed at LaGrange apartment complex, police say
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A 20-year-old is dead after he was shot and killed at an apartment complex Saturday afternoon, according to the LaGrange Police Department. Police were called to Wood Glen Apartments off North Cary Street near 1:30 p.m., where they found Gerald Jerome Burden, Jr. with multiple gunshot wounds. He was treated by emergency medical personnel on scene and rushed to the hospital, where he later died, police said.
Weekly Safety Report: Attempted Robbery and Shooting in LaGrange, Georgia
Two incidents occurred in LaGrange, Georgia this week. In the first incident, two juveniles were charged after attempting to rob another student in a school restroom. The victim was approached by two males who placed him in a chokehold and went through his pockets. In the second incident, a 16-year-old was shot on Dixie Street. The police found a home struck by gunfire and the injured juvenile was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No suspect has been identified yet. The city of LaGrange has approved additional police overtime to address the recent gun violence and homicides in the community.
