East Surry tops Central to finish unbeaten in FH2A Conference

DOBSON — East Surry completed its second-consecutive conference championship campaign by beating Surry Central 8-1 on April 22.

The last Foothills 2A Conference team to defeat East Surry was Surry Central on April 13, 2022. East Surry has since won 24-straight FH2A Conference matches to win back-to-back league titles for the first time in school history.

East Surry finished the regular season 13-4 overall.

Surry Central entered Monday’s contest having won five-straight matches. Despite falling to the Cardinals, the Golden Eagles (10-5, 9-3 FH2A) still finished runner-up in the conference. East Surry and Surry Central are the only teams to finish league champion or runner-up since the FH2A Conference was formed ahead of the 2021-22 school year.
