For Latinos, ‘parent’s rights’ should be about support and respect
All I wanted to do growing up in rural North Carolina was leave. It was hard for me to see what the future could hold in North Carolina for someone like me, one of the few Latino students in Honor and AP classes at my high school in Wilson. As a daughter of immigrants who left their home country to seek better opportunities for their family, I held high expectations of myself to make sure I validated my parent's sacrifice. That meant serving as a translator to navigate life here for myself and my family and on all of the issues that came up at school.

A Wilson man faces an attempted murder charge after police say he shot a woman. Giles is a military justice paralegal assigned to the 4th Fighter Wing Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, and she is the sole prosecution paralegal for a general court-martial. Her duties included analyzing evidence, interviewing witnesses, drafting documents for higher headquarters, and the travel and logistics for all parties of the court.

Missing, endangered alert issued for 72-year-old Johnston County man
SELMA, N.C. (WNCN) — The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a missing endangered alert for a Johnston County man on Wednesday night. At 10:11 p.m., the alert was issued for 72-year-old Willie Ray Jackson, who was last seen on Laramie Lane in Selma and is believed to be suffering from a cognitive impairment.
