PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) A motorcyclist is dead after colliding with a car in north Phoenix on Friday morning.

Around 10:45 a.m., Phoenix police were called to the intersection of Cave Creek and Jomax roads for a motorcycle and car crash. Officers arrived and found 64-year-old Gerald Reece with serious injuries. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Detectives say Reece was riding his motorcycle south on Cave Creek Road when he hit the back of a stopped car. Police say the driver of the car stayed at the scene and showed no signs of impairment. An investigation is ongoing.

Police closed Cave Creek Road in both directions at Jomax as officers investigated but it has since reopened.
