Gregory Soto Felt 'Unlucky' In Appearance Against Rangers on Opening Day

Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Gregory Soto did not have the kind of outing he envisioned for his debut with the franchise.

Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Gregory Soto would probably like his Opening Day appearance against the Texas Rangers back. Not only was it his debut with his new team, but it was one of the most disappointing outings of his illustrious career.

Soto wasn't able to record a single out, gave up four runs, three of which were earned, and issued two walks. He was also tagged with the loss.

He wasn't happy with his performance to say the least.

"Honestly, I felt a little unlucky today," Soto said. "That soft hit and the blooper were a couple of plays that could have gone in our favor but didn't.

"I've been getting mentally ready for moments like this. I feel confident that it won't happen again."

Philadelphia sent Nick Maton and Matt Vierling to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for Soto, he didn't come cheap. He is closer material and will be turner to in the highest leverage situations. Even in the postseason.

It was Opening Day and this was likely just a blip in the process.
