Joel Embiid J. Embiid

Joel Embiid (calf) downgraded, out Monday for 76ers versus Nuggets

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (calf) has been downgraded to out Monday versus the Denver Nuggets.

What It Means:

Embiid reportedly attempted to work out Monday morning, but the 76ers are playing it safe, which cancels the highly-anticipated MVP frontrunner showdown against Nikola Jokic. He should be back in action for Wednesday's home game against the Dallas Mavericks. Paul Reed will likely replace Embiid in the starting lineup on Monday night, and there will be more scoring opportunities for Tyrese Maxey, Shake Milton, Tobias Harris, and De'Anthony Melton.

Jokic and the Nugs are yielding the fifth-fewest rebounds per game to opposing centers this season. Reed ($4,800) is averaging 17.2 minutes and 22.8 FanDuel points across 12 games without Embiid.
