Phila. Man Indicted For Attempted Murder In Random Attack on AC Boardwalk

In a random attack, Samuel Cooper, 43, allegedly assaulted a woman with a brick tied in a t-shirt while she was walking on the Atlantic City Boardwalk earlier this year.

On March 23, 2023, Samuel Cooper, 43, of Philadelphia, was for Attempted Murder after an investigation revealed that, in a random attack, he allegedly assaulted a Philadelphia woman with a brick tied in a t-shirt while she was walking on the Atlantic City Boardwalk in the area of Iowa Avenue on January 6, 2023.

Cooper was indicted for first-degree Attempted Murder for purposely attempting to cause the death or seriously bodily injury resulting in the death of the female.


In addition, Cooper was also indicted for two counts of Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Certain Person not to Possess a Weapon.

This investigation was conducted by the Atlantic City Police Department and is being prosecuted by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

These charges are merely an accusation and not proof of guilt. In all criminal cases, a charged defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven otherwise in a court of law.
