Joe Giglio believes the 2023 Philadelphia Phillies are the most talented team in franchise history and to have a successful season they must win the World Series.

"I am going to say something right now and it may seem over the top, but I don't think it is," Giglio said to start Thursday's 94WIP Midday Show live from Clearwater. "They have Bryce Harper, they have Bryson Stott, they have Aaron Nola, Zack Wheeler, Alec Bohm, Kyle Schwarber, Taijuan Walker, Trea Turner. They were all first-round picks. Even go to guys that were second round picks—Castellanos, JT, a guy like Craig Kimbrel who they brought in to be a part of this bullpen who has had a boarder line Hall Of Fame career.

"I believe this is the most talented roster—now they have to go do it, they have to go win games. I believe it's the most talented roster the Phillies have ever had. And that's why I believe the only way this is a successful season is if this team goes and wins the World Series. I realize how big that is...That is my expectation. They should go win the World Series. It is a $200 million something dollar payroll. There are all-stars every where!"

Just a few days ago, Phillies managing partner John Middleton said on the 94WIP Morning Show that he wants to win multiple championships with this club.

"You have short term goals and you have long term goals," Middleton said on Monday's 94WIP Morning Show live in Clearwater. "I spoke to them in the locker room on the first day of full practice...I started out by saying, 'I don't want to win a World Series.' And people kind of looked at me. And then I said, 'The reason I don't want to win a World Series is, if the people in this room only win one World Series, I'm going to be really disappointed.'

"My goal—doesn't mean I am going to get there—is to create a team that 50 to 100 years from now, when people ask the question, 'What are the greatest teams to ever play baseball?' A Phillies team is in that conversation. Now that goal has to then translate down into shorter goals, so the goal this year is to win the World Series. I am not saying that is the expectation. I am not saying people should take that to the bank. I am not arrogant about it. But that's the goal."
