PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Temple University's faculty union has decided to move ahead with a vote of no confidence in three senior leaders. More than 900 union members voted online over the last several days.
In a statement released Tuesday, the Temple Association of University Professionals, local 4531, said 97% sought a no-confidence vote in President Jason Wingard, 86% sought a no-confidence vote for
Board of Trustees Chair Mitchell Morgan and 79% sought a no-confidence vote for Provost Gregory Mandel.
The vote was prompted by a number of issues including a surge in violent crime and the handling of the graduate student strike, which was settled last week after 42 days.
A formal vote of no confidence is expected to begin on the week of April 10.
