The Philadelphia Eagles made the Super Bowl last season, proving themselves as the top team in the NFC and one of the most talented teams in the entire league. But one former Eagles star thinks his new team is even better.

This week, former Philadelphia Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson signed a free-agent deal with the Detroit Lions. And during his introductory press conference, he had quite a bold claim revealing that he thinks his new team is “a little better” than his Eagles team last year.

“To be honest with you, it’s a little better, but that’s just on me,” Gardner-Johnson said according to Pro Football Talk. “Everybody can look from the outside looking in, but that’s just on me, from the outside looking in, but this team has talent. This team, we can win the division, possibly win the division. Everybody should feel that way, but when I look at a team coming from where I came from, and the teams I’ve played on that won multiple divisions, been to playoff games, and been to the Super Bowl, this team has what it takes to get there, win the division and get to the playoffs.”

It’s certainly a bold claim after leaving a team that just went to the Super Bowl. We’ll have to see if Gardner-Johnson is proven correct on the field next season.
