PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — How many times have you heard the phrase, “Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day”?

It is actually a wonderful concept, in theory. We all need reasons to bring people together.

However, St. Patrick’s Day in America is also associated with green beer and the potential for excess. So, it is important that if you are going to drink alcohol, make certain you are not driving. Even if you are not having any green beer, still be careful on the road.

If you plan to have a party for friends or head to a celebration, consider healthy options.

The bottom line: Whether it is New Year’s Eve, Super Bowl Sunday or St. Patrick’s Day, moderation and common sense are critical.
