PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two separate overnight shootings in Philadelphia left one person dead and four others wounded, including two teens.
The first incident, a triple shooting, happened around 11 p.m. Thursday on Leiper Street, just a few blocks away from the Frankford Transportation Center.
“We know at least 25 or over 25 shots were fired from two separate caliber semiautomatic weapons,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small.
A 27-year-old man was shot in the head and body and died in the hospital. He was later identified as Tsiahjard Richards. His friend, a 30-year-old woman, was hit behind the ear and survived.
A 31-year-old man also survived. He received treatment in the hospital after he was hit in the arm. It is not clear if he had any ties to the first two victims, police said.
Five cars were struck by gunfire, including a double-parked car that was being driven by the female victim, according to investigators.
A motive was not immediately known.

The other shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Friday at 24th and Jefferson streets in North Philadelphia. A 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old were shot.
Police saw them a few blocks away and took them to the hospital. The older victim was the more seriously hurt of the two; he is in critical condition.
Back in the neighborhood where they were shot, a car was broken into.
“The driver door was wide open and you can clearly see the steering column is broken open. It appears someone was trying to start this vehicle illegally,” Small said.
Investigators are trying to figure out if the wounded teens had any connection to the car break-in and what the circumstances were leading up to the shooting.
No one was arrested for either shooting.
