New coach, new optimism for Indian River lacrosse
PHILADELPHIA, New York (WWNY) - The Indian River boys’ lacrosse team is showing improvement this season under a new varsity coach. The Warriors entered Thursday’s game against South Jefferson with a 3-5 overall record, 2-3 in Frontier League play. (Indian River fell to South Jeff 8-7 in overtime.)

More than 30 Section III track teams convened for the annual Cook-DeStefano Invitational on Friday at Proctor High School. The Watertown boys’ squad eked out a team victory with 76.17 points, beating West Genesee by .17 of a point. Host Utica Proctor placed third (64), Sauquoit Valley grabbed fourth and Clinton took fifth (48.83).
Black Bears Come From Behind Against Watertown, Take Series Lead
The Binghamton Black Bears can earn a series sweep on Saturday over Watertown after downing the Wolves on the road, 4-2. The game started less than ideal for the Bears, giving up an even-strength goal from Trevor Lord just five minutes into the game. The Bears were unable to respond for the next time, as Michael Mercurio doubled Watertown's lead to two goals. Binghamton went into the first intermission down 2-0 despite having outshot the Wolves 13-12.
