Heavy rain, flood threat with isolated severe weather Monday

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - A lot of storms should push southeast of Columbus and Phenix City toward midday and mid afternoon with a couple severe storms not out of the question, including a tornado perhaps.

While the severe weather threat is starting to shift east and southeast, the flood risk is still very high in our northern counties. Parts of Troup, Chambers and Meriwether Counties have received 6-10 inches of rain in the last 36 hours.

Highs Monday will be in the mid to upper 70s.

We could see one more round of rain Tuesday, but not many storms. The best chance of rain Tuesday would be south of Columbus and Phenix City. Highs closer to 70 degrees.

A mix of sun and clouds Wednesday. Cooler with temperatures in the 40s in the morning followed by a high near 70 degrees.

Sunny to partly cloudy Thursday and Friday with warming temperatures during the afternoon. Highs Thursday reach the mid 70s, low to mid 80s Friday.

Our next cold front approaches Saturday giving us scattered showers and storms again. It should be drier Sunday the way it looks now.
