Sheriff’s officials are searching for two men and one woman suspected of carjacking a vehicle at gunpoint in the middle of a road in Phelan.

Sheriff’s officials have asked the public for help to find three people suspected of carjacking a vehicle at gunpoint in the middle of a road in Phelan.

Here's what deputies say happened.

At 8:49 p.m. Thursday, sheriff's deputies responded to the report of a carjacking on Caughlin Road, near the railroad tracks. The victims told deputies they were driving on Caughlin, when they saw a man standing in the middle of the road with a gun pointed at them.

The driver stopped and the man walked toward the victims and ordered them out of the vehicle, deputies said. Two more people — a man and a woman — walked out of the desert and stood next to the car.

The victims got out of the vehicle and the alleged thieves drove away in a 2002 silver, four-door, Ford Edge, California license plate #9BXU134, authorities said.

The suspects — a tall man, a short man, and a short woman — were all wearing black hooded sweatshirts and face masks, sheriff’s officials said.

Sheriff’s officials did not disclose if any of the victims were injured or if deputies know the names of the suspects.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station at 760-552-6800. Callers can remain anonymous by contacting We-Tip at 800-78CRIME or wetip.com.
