(25News Now) - It was a busy Friday night of high school sports across Central Illinois. In soccer, Peoria Notre Dame is headed to the Super-Sectionals. The Irish beat Geneseo 4-0 to win the Dunlap Sectional title. PND is set to play Chicago power Benet Academy at the Washington Super-Sectional on Tuesday.

In small schools soccer, Normal U-High is headed to the state championship game. The Pioneers used two second-half goals to get past Pleasant Plains 2-0 in a state semifinal win. They’ll play Rock Island Alleman on Saturday for the title.

Friday was sectional championship day in small schools softball. In Class 1A, Illini Bluffs is once again a sectional champion. The two-time defending state champs knocked off sectional host Havana 7-3 to advance to Monday’s Super-Sectional.

In Class 2A, Tremont came up just short of a sectional title, falling 12-2 to two-time defending state champion Rockridge.

In big schools softball, Friday was regional championship day. At the 3A Metamora regional, the host Redbirds flew past Dunlap 13-4 to win the regional title. They’re moving onto next week’s sectional which they will also host. They will play Normal West. The Wildcats topped the East Peoria 1-0 to win the Normal West regional title. Also moving onto the Metamora sectional is Washington. The Panthers beat Lincoln 6-1 to win their own regional championship. In Class 4A, fell to East Moline 16-10 in eight innings to end their season.

In lacrosse, Washington battled hard but fell 11-10 in overtime to Tinley Park Andrew in the sectional championship game.

Friday was also preliminary day for Class 2A and 3A at boys state track. In 2A, IVC’s David Russell had the top discus mark in the state in prelims. In 3A, Normal Community’s Alex Sohn had the top preliminary shot put. Meanwhile, Metamora’s Drew Tucker and Normal Community’s Chris Taylor both qualified at the top of the high jump ranks in Class 2A & 3A respectively.
