A selfie studio in the Northwoods Mall will be commemorating their success in their first anniversary celebration on April 1 by hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony and mixer.
It’s A Vibe Selfie Studio was founded by Peoria natives LaToya and Johnny Jorden. As a family owned business, they have incorporated the importance of an experience into their business.
“We were inspired a lot by just our travels as a family. We do have four kids. And we actually saw this concept elsewhere in some other states and decided it would be really fun to come and bring it back to our community,” LaToya Jorden said.
The studio has a home base in the lower level of the Northwoods Mall, and they also offer customizable studios that can be brought to any event.
“So we do mobile setups, and it's like over the top. One of our things we take pride in is being that "wow" factor. So we actually bring an actual booth to you that can be customized whatever you want it to be and it'll send your event over the top,” Johnny Jorden said.
In their year of business in Peoria, the Jordens said it has been a rollercoaster ride of a journey. As Women’s History Month comes to an end, LaToya Jorden said being a woman and business owner is reflected in how the studio is run and represented.
“That's something that's always gonna be incorporated. Me, as a woman, and being an entrepreneur and a business owner, that was always something that was important to showcase. Not only for myself, but for my daughter, and then other future female entrepreneurs,” she said.
To celebrate their one year anniversary, the studio will be holding a second ribbon cutting ceremony on March 31, and on April 1 they are hosting a mixer that will include food, performances, and their signature selfie studios.
