Pensacola man dies after driving off Interstate 10 overpass, landing on Pine Forest Road

A Pensacola man died Tuesday morning after he drove off the Interstate 10 overpass and landed on Pine Forest Road.

Florida Highway Patrol reported the 43-year-old man was driving westbound on Interstate 10 around 4:45 a.m. when he began drifting into the center grass median as he approached the Pine Forest Road overpass.

"Vehicle 1 traveled through the barrier blocking the overpass area between the east and westbound travel lanes of Interstate 10," an FHP release states. "Vehicle 1 drove through the barrier and became airborne, landing below the overpass on the center median of Pine Forest Road."

After landing, the man's car rolled before resting on an embankment on the west side of the overpass.
