A federal jury on Friday found Kevin Lee Ross, 62, of Penobscot, guilty of possessing child sexual abuse material while he was on supervised release after serving time for the same offense .

The jury found that from May 2013 to April 2023, Ross knowingly possessed child sexual abuse material, according to evidence presented at trial and cited by the U.S. Department of Justice in a news release.

While on supervised release for the 2014 conviction, also for possessing child sexual abuse material, probation officers from Bangor searched his home and vehicle and found a cell phone, laptop and external hard drive that contained images and videos of child sexual abuse, according to the DOJ.

Evidence showed that Ross had the laptop and hard drive before he served his federal sentence and started using them again after he was released from prison in 2021, according to the DOJ.

He faces a minimum of 10 years and up to 20 years in prison followed by five years to life of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.
