Maine State Police issued a Silver Alert Tuesday for an elderly woman with dementia who allegedly left home on foot Monday and did not return.

According to CBS 13, Marjorie May, 72, of Penobscot was found on the shore of a stream about two-thirds of a mile from her home. The woman, who suffers from dementia, was disoriented and missing a shoe when she was found by rescuers.

Maine State Police spokesperson Thomas Pickering said May left her home at about 3:45 p.m. Monday but never came back.

May was examined by medical personnel, according to Mark Latti, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife.
