PEMBROKE PINES, FL– An armed suspect who attempted to rob an armored truck has been taken into custody.
The incident occurred near the Bank of America on 18291 Pines Boulevard Wednesday morning.
Authorities say around 10:00 a.m. the suspect approached a guard as they exited an armored truck and demanded the money bag they were carrying.
The guard handed the money bag over to the armed suspect and the suspect fled toward a black Nissan Altima.
Officials say as the suspect fled the scene, shots were fired but it is unclear who opened fire.
The suspect was eventually located at 606 Dania Beach Blvd around 10:45 a.m. and taken into custody.
It is unclear if the money bag contained any cash or if the bag was found on the suspect at the time of their arrest.
The FBI and Pembroke Pines Police are working together on the case.
