The Pella City Council held a public hearing at their meeting Tuesday evening for construction bids to begin the process of converting overhead power lines underground along Idaho Drive. A contract was approved with Murphy Tower Service for $636,000 for installation of underground conduit. The council also accepted final improvements for the 250th Avenue road reconstruction project, approved a resolution to partner with Pella Historical Society for the upgrades to the downtown speaker system for up to $154,652 in funding, and moved forward with a special event permit for the Pella All Original Music Showcase on Saturday, September 16th. During policy and planning following regular business, the council discussed health and dental plan premiums for the upcoming fiscal year and had a brief review of the city’s peddler permit policies.
