A strong offensive showing wasn’t enough for the Pella Christian softball team in a 14-12 loss to Colfax-Mingo Thursday night, while the Eagles baseball game against Roland-Story was canceled due to field conditions.

The Eagles softball team pushed 12 runs across the plate on 13 hits in the loss, but the Tigerhawks took advantage of 13 hits, seven walks, and five errors to score 14 runs. Amaia Agre led the Pella Christian offense on the night, going 3-for-4 with a double, two walks, and three RBIs. Emma Eekhoff added four RBIs and a double, while Brynn Rozeboom batted in another two runs for the Eagles as the team dropped to 4-5 on the season. Eekhoff took the loss in the circle, allowing six hits, two walks, and seven runs in two innings of work. Maddy Van Zee threw the other five innings in the game, giving up seven runs (four earned) on seven hits and five walks.

The Pella Christian softball and baseball teams are both back in action tonight, hosting single Little Hawkeye Conference games against Dallas Center-Grimes. The Eagles softball game is set to start at 7:15 p.m., with first pitch of the baseball game to follow at 7:30 p.m.
