The spring sports season kicks-off for two teams at Pella Christian today, as the boys tennis and girls soccer squads have their first games of the 2023 slate.

The Eagles’ boys tennis team begins their season this afternoon with a non-conference home match against Centerville. Pella Christian has faced off with the Reds in each of the last two seasons, holding a 1-1 record in those matches. The Eagles claimed last year’s contest 7-2, while Centerville won the meeting in 2021, 8-1.

Tonight marks the fifth time the Pella Christian girls will face Ottumwa on the soccer pitch. The Eagles are hoping to continue the success they’ve held in the series, as they have outscored the Bulldogs 21-3 in four meetings and are unbeaten. Last season’s contest was the closest of the series, with Pella Christian claiming a narrow 3-2 overtime victory.

The Eagles boys tennis match on Eagle Lane begins at 4:15 p.m., while the Pella Christian girls soccer game at Ottumwa High School is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
