Softball Recap: Rilee Diffin can't quite lead Orofino over New Plymouth
Orofino and New Plymouth squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Orofino had to settle for second. They fell just short of the New Plymouth Pilgrims by a score of 12-11. Orofino was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as New Plymouth apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

Tree planting at City Park
Workers with the City of Weiser were busy last week planting a new tree at City Park. Public Works Director Mike Campbell said the Golden Globe Ginkgo will not only be a nice-looking tree, but will provide good shade for parkgoers. He added that the tree is just one in a plan to plant more in the near future. Some of the trees at the park have reached their life expectancy and are beginning to die and will need to be replaced. BAKER/POWDER VALLEY SOFTBALL: Bulldogs close regular season with split at Ontario
The Baker/Powder Valley softball team closed its regular season with a win, rallying past Ontario 12-7 to salvage a split in a doubleheader Friday, May 10 at Ontario. The Bulldogs clinched third place in the Greater Oregon League, earning a Class 4A play-in game.
Prep track & field: Day 1 state titles for WS's Bingham, Preston in girls medley relay
The third time was the charm for West Side’s Reagan Bingham at the 2A State Track & Field Championships. The junior reigned supreme in the girls high jump on Day 1 of the meet, which is being contested at Middleton High School. Bingham, who also qualified for state in this event as a freshman and sophomore, was the lone athlete to clear the bar at 5 feet, 2 inches.
