The Osage Nation Counseling Center is trying to raise awareness of the life-saving benefits of Narcan.
They are doing so with a free Drive-thru Narcan training event on Wednesday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that is open to all.
Oklahomans have been greatly impacted by the opioid epidemic in America.
In 2022, fentanyl and other opioid-related overdoses increased 22%. The number has only risen in 2023.
ONCC aims to educate, prepare, and equip the community with multiple grants.
The grants are being used specifically for free Narcan training events as well as free access to Narcan, which can prevent an overdose from killing someone.
Other free items included in these events are medication lock bags, t-shirts, and other resources.
The Drive-thru Narcan training event is on Kihekah Avenue and Main Street in Pawhuska, Okla.
The event is open to the public while supplies last.
