Flood advisory issued for Brevard after heavy rains near Patrick Space Force Base

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for portions of Brevard near Patrick Space Force Base after reports of heavy rain early Thursday. The advisory lasts until 11:15 a.m.

A downpour dropping about 1 to 3 inches of rainfall was reported over Patrick Air Force Base, with minor flooding in and around the area, the service reported.

The National Weather Service reports heavy rains reported in and around Patrick Space Force Base, prompting a flood advisory.

"It's just that tiny area but later today we should see more rain," said Kole Fehling, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

The system was weakening by 8:30 a.m. and expected to move offshore from the base.
