A 29-year-old motorcyclist died when his bike collided with a van in Paterson's Sixth Ward on Tuesday, Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale confirmed shortly after the crash.

As of early evening, firefighters were still on scene attempting to extricate the body from the van while investigators from the city's traffic bureau probed the crash in an effort to discern what caused the two vehicles to collide near East Railway and Gould avenues, according to Speziale.

At 7:45 p.m. police had not yet released the victim's identity nor said whether the van's driver had been injured in the crash.
