Top music tracks blared from speakers. In those days, the skate park hosted competitions, pizza parties and even live bands. Former FAU standout Alijah Martin signs with Florida over Alabama, Arkansas, Michigan and others
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida Atlantic standout Alijah Martin, who helped propel the Owls to the Final Four in 2023, is moving about 300 miles north to play at Florida. The 6-foot-2 guard formally signed with the Gators on Monday and is expected to become an immediate starter for coach Todd Golden in Gainesville. He will replace Zyon Pullin, a first team, all-Southeastern Conference point guard who averaged 15.5 points, 4.9 assists and 3.9 rebounds after transferring from UC Riverside. Martin, a graduate transfer, has one year of eligibility remaining. He chose Florida over Alabama, Arkansas, Michigan, Mississippi and USC. “He’s been incredibly consistent as both a scorer and defender and will add even more explosiveness to our group,” Golden said. “He will step onto our campus as a college graduate and will provide experience and leadership for the program.”

Florida Atlantic men's basketball team will start 2024-25 season with new-look roster
Florida Atlantic men's basketball coach John Jakus will get the chance to paint on a fresh canvas in his first season in Boca Raton. The Owls have seven different players either in the portal or already committed to other schools. Johnell Davis, Vlad Goldin, Alijah Martin, Nick Boyd, Isaiah Gaines, Giancarlo Rosado, and Brennen Lorient leave a more than significant void that Jakus will be looking to fill in the transfer portal and with high school signees.

Michigan basketball gets seventh commitment since Friday
Is seven a lucky number? Because it feels like a lucky number. Given the exodus from both the Michigan and Florida Atlantic basketball programs, one would have thought new Wolverines head coach Dusty May would have pilfered the Owls as he looks to replenish the maize and blue. That hasn’t been the case. May secured six commitments (five from the transfer portal) from Friday to Monday, and zero came from Boca Raton. However, one of his former players is Ann Arbor-bound. 2024 Lakeland (Florida) Victory Christian Academy three-star combo guard Lorenzo Cason, who signed with FAU but was released from his national letter of intent, has committed to Michigan basketball via the transfer portal. NEWS: Lorenzo Cason, a former FAU signee, will follow Dusty May to Michigan and has committed to the Wolverines, he tells @On3Recruits.https://t.co/QKEz3AU0zW pic.twitter.com/MqcAz4WYrd — Joe Tipton (@TiptonEdits) April 23, 2024 Cason is rated the 35th-best combo guard and 22nd player in the state of Florida in the 2024 recruiting cycle. Of the eight incoming players to Michigan basketball, six are guards. The two forwards are Alabama transfer Sam Walters and Yale transfer Danny Wolf. The only other likely addition at this point via the portal is former FAU center Vlad Goldin.
FAU adds another guard in Eastern Kentucky transfer Leland Walker
John Jakus landed his second commitment in the past two days on Thursday as former Eastern Kentucky guard Leland Walker announced his transfer to Florida Atlantic via Twitter. Walker, a First Team All-Atlantic Sun selection in 2023–24, was Eastern Kentucky's second-leading scorer this past season, averaging 15.4 points, 4.1 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game. His 43% shooting from the field and 34% from beyond the arc helped him finish 10th in the Atlantic Sun Conference in scoring.
