PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — College is not just for adults. This summer, children ages 8 to 12 can attend West Virginia University at Parkersburg’s Kids’ College program. Volunteer opportunities are available for teens ages 13 and older. Children can attend one, two or three weeks of fun, educational classes, from June 13-16, June 20-23 and June 27-30, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., daily.
Children can choose four classes per week; topics range from media studies and welding to farm technology and photography. Lunch will be provided.

• Chemistry
• Farm Technology
• Bookmaking
• Photography
• Archeology
• Music Technology
• Chemistry
• Intro to Making
• Geology
• Journaling
• Space and Rocketry
• Bird-O-Rama
• Geology
“Our Kids’ College summer program provides kids with an opportunity to experience college while also expanding their horizons with hands-on learning in a variety of classes taught by WVUP faculty and community educators,” said Workforce and Economic Development Program Coordinator Abby Campbell.
Class sizes are limited and granted on a first-come, first-serve basis (with payment). The Kids’ College registration fee is $150 per week per child. The deadline to register is Friday, June 2.
Visit www.wvup.edu/kidscollege to complete an application. Children interested in volunteering need to contact the Workforce and Economic Development Division for a volunteer form.
