SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is in works improving the eastbound and westbound I-80 bridges at Echo (milepost 168), Wanship (milepost 155), and the I-84 bridges at Echo (milepost 119).

Work on the Echo westbound I-80 bridge began in October and included installation of new barriers and guardrails and replacement of bridge approach slabs.

The second phase of the I-80 bridge projects resumed in late April. I-80 bridges over Echo Dam Road and SR-32 in Wanship and the I-84 bridges over Echo Frontage Road were worked on. Construction will last through mid-June 2023.

I-84 Bridges at Echo

Work on I-84 bridges will commence as early as Tuesday, May 30, with the completion of 1-80 bridges. The I-84 project will remove and replace the top layer of bridge deck pavements.

To accommodate this work, crews will reduce the I-84 bridges over Echo Frontage Road to one lane. Traffic restrictions will be in place 24/7.

What to Expect:

  • Daytime work — 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday ƒ
  • Traffic restrictions in place 24/7
  • Minor delays

Lanes will be narrowed to 11 feet and shoulders narrowed to 2 feet. Wide loads should exit westbound I-80 at Echo (Exit 169) and enter westbound I-80 from the on-ramp at Echo to avoid the lane width restriction.
