Block driving the 156 turns at Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

PARK CITY, Utah — Even though Park City High School student Lia Block isn’t quite done with her sophomore year, she’s got a head start on this summer’s rally car racing competition season in Oregon on Friday.

The driver of the Hoonigan car out of the Hoonigan Garage in Park City announced that she’ll be driving a car on June 25  at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado.

Jeff Price, Hoonigan’s shop manager/rally technician, told TownLift, “We are looking forward to seeing how well she does. Since this will not be a timed run, she will mostly be focussing on learning the road and the intricacies of the 156 turns, and not to mention learning how to drive the Hoonipigasus.”

That’s different than the differently-named Hoonicorn car she also has recently raced.

“No way would I have thought that I would be second on this list in a rear wheel drive car. Stages 15 and 16, @rhianongelsomino finished 2 overall in front of a bunch of 4WD cars, only behind @brandonsemenuk. Can’t believe it still! Just trusting the car and driving smooth, what a day!” She wrote on her Instagram.

April 3 (4/3), was declared Ken Block 43 Day after the number on the car of legendary Rally Car racer, and father to Lia, passed away earlier 2023.
