Heavy snowfall in the forecast for the remainder of this week

PARK CITY, Utah — This week saw heavy snow on Monday, a high of 50 degrees in the Salt Lake Valley on Tuesday, and will once again be heading for heavy snow starting Wednesday evening and lasting through Friday.

Heavy gusts are expected to be part of the storm, with the National Weather Service forecasting gusts up to 70 mph. A winter storm watch has been issued for Wednesday through Friday.

The first wave lasting from Wednesday night into Thursday is like to produce between 8-11 inches of snow, according to Powderchasers.  The highest snow totals are expected to be in Big Cottonwood Canyon all the way to Logan.

The second wave will likely arrive on Thursday evening and last through Friday. The system is expected to be colder and drop lots of snow, Powderchasers has forecasted 9-17 inches.

With this storm coming in from the Northwest, it is likely that both the Park City resorts will receive snowfall totals.

Northern Utah could see additional snow over the weekend.
