Snowy week continues with snowfall forecasted through Sunday

PARK CITY, Utah — Well, it’s Spring, or at least it’s supposed to be, but mother nature seems to have missed the memo as more snow heads for Utah.

Following a wave of snow at the beginning of the week, where Solitude Mountain Resort saw 25 inches of snowfall in 48 hours, a second wave will continue the snowfall throughout the weekend.

Powderchasers is forecasting heavy snowfall that will last from Thursday to Saturday morning, with snow totals between two to five inches across Utah. Friday is likely to be heavier snowfall, with 8 inches or more for the cottonwoods, around 5 inches for Park City, and similar totals for the rest of Utah.

The snowline will stretch down into the Salt Lake Valley as temperature highs move into the low 30s before rising again on Sunday. Forecasts from the NWS have potential for totals for Friday as high as 7 inches of snow for the day, and another one to three inches that night.

While higher total potential rates of snow are likely to be over by Saturday morning, snow is still forecasted through Sunday with more scattered lingering showers. While wind speeds have been excessive with storms earlier in the week, NWS has Friday being the day with the highest gust potential over 32 mph.
