More snow on the way this week; Alta likely to join the 700-inch club

PARK CITY, Utah — It’s been a monumental month for Utah snowfall, with the state hitting record snowpack levels for this time of year and Brighton Resort crossing into the 700-inch range for season snowfall.

Alta Ski Area is not far behind, with only 4 inches remaining before it does the same. It looks like Alta skiers won’t have to wait long to hit this milestone, with more snow in the forecast this week.

Snow is expected to start falling Tuesday afternoon and continue into Wednesday, according to Powderchasers . Cottonwoods totals could be anywhere from six inches to a foot, and higher elevations could receive totals closer to two feet.

Park City mountains will likely see similar results of close to a foot of snow throughout the storm, with the potential for more. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. on Tuesday until 6 a.m. on Thursday.

Southern Utah will likely receive a significant snow dumping over the next few days, with 30 inches a possibility.
