Paris, Tenn.–Saturday night’s first annual Songwriters Night was a hit, with a sold-out and appreciative audience. Organized by Randi French and the Chamber staff, the event was a new one to the Tennessee River Jam and organizers said it won’t be the last.

Bart Herbison of Paris, the Executive Director of the Nashville Songwriters Association International, played an instrumental part in arranging the event, which was held at the new Crown Meeting & Event Center in downtown Paris.

Three Nashville songwriters played their songs and told stories about their lives and careers: Bobby Tomberlin, Roxie Dean and Chris Wallin.

Tomberlin is from Luverne, Ala. and wrote such hits as “One More Day” for Diamond Rio and “A Good Day to Run” for Darryl Worley.

Dean is from Baton Rouge, La., and her songs include, “Why They Call It Falling” by LeeAnn Womack and “When I Think About Angels” by Jamie O’Neal.

Wallin is from East Tennessee and his hits have included “Love Me If You Can” by Toby Keith, ‘People Loving People’ by Garth Brooks, and “Don’t Blink” by Kenny Chesney.
