LETTER: Clarifying stance on Kirkland solar project
The letter to the editor of March 10 regarding the Atlas Renewables solar farm, requires that I write to clarify the position I stated in my letter of May 1. I did not intend to minimize the potential for flooding. Rather, I was pointing out that the statement "flooding will increase" is next to meaningless without some analytic prediction of how large that increase will be. To use the example from my May 1 letter, if the project was likely to cause 1 extra significant flooding event every 10 years, then I would be opposed to the project. On the other hand, if it caused 1 extra event every 100 years, or every 1000 years, I would consider that acceptable.
