PARIS, ARK. – An overnight power outage has affected the town's water treatment plant Monday and power to homes.

Thunderstorms rolled through the River Valley late Sunday, and a number of outages were reported in Logan County.

"Once the power is back on it will be a big sigh of relief," said Mayor Daniel Rogers.

There were about 20 power poles toppled over.

A sudden storm left damage late Sunday, July 17, 2022 in Paris, Arkansas.

"We are not really sure what it was but it was really windy and it did a lot of damage," Rogers said.

The damage was reported in the central part of the town, Rogers said. The town did get rain in a downpour from a short-lived storm.

One power outage was at Mercy Family Medicine in Paris, 303 S. 5th Street. Clinic staff members worked to reschedule appointments as video visits or relocate in-person visits to Mercy Hospital Paris. The hospital had power Monday morning. Clinic patients could call the hospital at (479) 963-6101 for questions or assistance with upcoming appointments.

A late night storm left damage in Paris, Arkansas Monday morning, July 18, 2022.

Residents still had water pressure Monday, he said. Residents were asked to conserve water and a boil order was possible, he said.

"We don't want to lose water," Rogers said. He said the Paris High School cafeteria was open for those who needed a place to cool down.

The damage could have been from straight line winds or a downburst of wind, he said.

There were limbs from trees knocked down and some large branches on houses. The storm was over about midnight, he said.

There were concerns for those who lost power and might not have air conditioning.

Contractors were showing up to help Monday morning.

"We are really glad to have them," Rogers.

There were roofs and siding as well as vehicles with damage Monday, Rogers added.
