Some dogs are fearless, but if yours is anything like mine, they can be a bit of a scaredy cat at times! Many dogs get freaked out by the same things: Visits to the vet, loud noises, and of course, thunderstorms. Anytime it's really storming outside, my dog makes sure she's near me. I can tell she's trying not to let on that she's scared, but I'm not blind to those looks she gives me every so often while it's thundering outside — and I am always happy to offer her all the reassurance she needs.

Thunderstorms freak some dogs out big time, though... so much, in fact, that they have to let the whole house know about the impending danger, the way the pup in the TikTok video below is doing. Poor baby!

On Tuesday, September 10, @bradygraffiti_corgis shared a glimpse of what happens when it storms at her house: Her sweet Corgi pup immediately has to alert her of the danger taking place outside in the middle of his freak out about the storm.

This dog, whose name is Graffiti, comes running into the room, barking with very wide eyes. Despite his mom's attempts to reassure him, he's still not letting his guard down and starts looking for a hiding space... meanwhile, freaking out his brother, another Corgi named Brady, in the process.

By the end of the video, both dogs need snuggles and to stay close to mom, as you do when you're scared of something.

"Proof that dogs are actual real babies," she wrote in her caption.

The good news? These dogs did find all the comfort they needed... but I wish they weren't so scared of the storm in the first place. Poor things!

Why Are Dogs Afraid of Thunderstorms?

As I mentioned earlier, thunderstorms are pretty common fears for dogs. Obviously, the loud noise that thunder makes can be scary, but there's actually another factor that could freak them out even more: Static electricity.

According to what Dr. Nicholas Dodman told the Humane Society of North Texas, increased static electricity during storms can make dogs feel uncomfortable, and they likely experience several shocks that tingle through their fur. This is why they become so anxious and try to hide from the feeling, even though we know that's not possible.

How can you help? Multiple experts recommend rubbing unscented dryer sheets on your dog during a storm to help — but you don't want to do this too often, or if your dog is a big groomer, since there are chemicals in the dryer sheets that they shouldn't be ingesting.

Next time your dog is panicking during a storm, remember that they're probably feeling pretty uncomfy. That can't be fun for them!
